10-year-old Noella McMarr is already making her dreams come true.
Six years into her transition, Noela made history as the youngest out-trans model to walk the New York Fashion Week runway for designer Mel Atkinson and Trans* Clothing Company.
Trans* Clothing Company started in 2018 when a close friend came out to Atkinson. Atkinson decided to create a fashion company that catered to the needs of trans women in clothing, especially early in the transition. Today, TCC is a comprehensive brand with clothing for all types of transgender and gender nonconforming people.
“Noella doesn’t get nervous or scared no matter what. She’s a little pro!” said Noela’s mother Dee McMarr uk metro“She was so excited to walk the catwalk and look forward to seeing everyone and the cameras. She knows exactly how to move a crowd.”
“We are so proud to have Noela as the first transgender child to appear at New York Fashion Week. We are in awe of her confidence and determination,” she continued. “Noela already has a huge number of transgender people of all ages contacting her for advice and support.”
According to her parents, Noela started saying she wasn’t a boy when she was two years old. When she was four years old, she underwent treatment and she declared to her doctor that she was a girl. Her parents believe she is too young for her medical transition, but she transitioned socially at the age of four and legally changed her name at the age of seven. . That’s also when she started her modeling career.
“It was so incredibly pure to see her accept herself for who she is,” her mother said. She said, “She is fearless on stage and knows exactly how to handle the audience and the camera.”
Her parents are proud to support their transgender daughter and wish her the very best.
“As the parent of a transgender child, it is my duty to protect her and ensure her safety,” her mother said. She wants to show other transgender kids that it’s okay to transition socially and accept them for who they are.
