An FBI investigation concluded that Alec Baldwin pulled the trigger on the gun that killed Halina Hutchins.
The cinematographer was accidentally shot dead on the set of the movie Rust in October 2021 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The FBI has now concluded that Baldwin, 64, must have fired the gun.
The firearm was supposed to have been loaded with dummy bullets, and Baldwin has previously denied pulling the trigger.
However, a report seen by ABC News determined that the gun could not have been fired without pulling the trigger.
Investigators tested the gun in a variety of ways to see if the weapon could be fired without using the trigger. But in the end I came to the conclusion that it is not possible.
Baldwin spoke about the incident in a television interview last year when he claimed he didn’t pull the trigger.
“The trigger wasn’t pulled. I wasn’t pulling the trigger. I never pointed a gun at anyone or pulled the trigger,” he said at the time.
FBI reports can lead to criminal charges against Hollywood stars and other people involved in fatal accidents.
Baldwin, meanwhile, has previously admitted that he can’t explain how the bullet ended up in the gun.
The veteran actor said the weapon was only intended as a prop for Western films.
“Somebody put live rounds in the gun,” he said last year.
Baldwin also admitted that he still has trouble coming to terms with the tragedy.
he said: [the incident occurred]It seems unrealistic to me. ”
