Anne Heche hospitalized ‘stable’ after violent car crash | Entertainment

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor Anne Heche was in the hospital on Saturday after her car smashed into her home and burst into flames, a spokesperson said.

“Anne is currently in stable condition. Her family and friends are asking for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and to respect her privacy,” said Heche’s friend and podcast partner. Heather Duffy Boylston said in a statement.

Shortly before 11 a.m. on Friday, Heche’s speeding car came to a T-shaped intersection and veered off the road into a home in the Malvista neighborhood on the west side of Los Angeles.

The car stopped inside the two-story home, starting a fire that took nearly 60 firefighters more than an hour to extinguish, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Television news video showed a woman in a badly damaged and burned blue Mini Cooper Clubman being towed outside her home sitting on a stretcher as firefighters struggled to get it into an ambulance. .

No other injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made. Police detectives are investigating.

A native of Ohio, Heche first came to prominence on the NBC soap opera Another World from 1987 to 1991. She won her Daytime Emmy Award for this role.

In the late 1990s, she became one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, appearing on magazine covers and in big-budget movies. She co-starred with Johnny Depp in 1997’s Donnie Brasco. She co-starred with Tommy Lee Jones in 1997’s “Volcano.” She co-starred with Harrison Ford in 1998’s Six Days, Seven Nights. Her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000 boosted her fame and brought her public scrutiny.

In her memoir Call Me Crazy, released the following year, Heche recounts her lifelong struggle with mental health and childhood abuse.
