Aqib Talib has decided to relinquish its broadcasting responsibilities on Amazon following the recent shooting of a youth football coach in Lancaster, Texas. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Talib’s decision came after his brother Yakub Talib, the suspect in Mike Hickmon’s shooting, turned himself in to authorities on Monday.
Witnesses told ESPN that Yakub pulled out a gun and shot Hickmon multiple times at a youth football game last Saturday. A coach for the Dallas United Bobcats, Hickmon was a youth team coach for the DEA Dragons.
Witnesses claim the shooting took place in front of several children, including Hickmon’s nine-year-old son.
According to the WFAA, witnesses say Akib started a brawl across the field because he got angry with the referee during the match.In the first video obtained by TMZSportsSeveral coaches and referees are seen arguing as the match heats up and guns are drawn, but according to the WFAA, the arrest affidavit does not say who started the fight.
Akib’s lawyer released a statement on Tuesday after Yakub turned himself in, confirming that his client was present when the shooting occurred.
“Akib was present when this unfortunate incident happened and is extremely distraught and devastated by this horrific loss of life,” Talib’s lawyer said. TMZSports“He would like to extend his condolences to the families of the victims and to all who witnessed this unfortunate tragedy.
