The Aquarion Water Company is asking some residents to continue conserving water as phase 2 drought conditions continue in some areas.

Aquarion is reminding its customers in 13 towns that they have a mandatory twice-weekly irrigation schedule through October 31st.

Watering schedules have been observed annually since 2017.

Fairfield County includes Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich, New Canaan, Newtown, Stamford and Westport.

Aquarion also has 13 out-of-town customers adjusting their lawn mowers to higher settings, adjusting their sprinklers to only water lawns and yards, not streets and sidewalks, and hand washing flowers and shrubs. watering with or using drip irrigation and delaying new mowing. Plant until autumn.

Also, when doing household chores, turn off the water when lathering, shaving, or brushing your teeth, keep bathing to a minimum, shorten the length of your showers by one minute, and use the dishwasher and washing machine. Wash only the entire amount. Hand wash dishes in a pot or sink instead of under continuous running water.

State officials will meet again on August 18 to reassess Connecticut’s drought situation.
