timberwolves Forward taurus prince Arlington police said in a statement that he was arrested Thursday in Miami on a deportation warrant that came from a May traffic stop in Texas.
At the first traffic stop, police stopped Prince for having an expired registration, but two handguns, a vape pen containing THC, and a canister containing marijuana were found during the search. Police have charged Prince with illegal possession of a weapon, possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance, but have so far failed to obtain a warrant after waiting for the results of the contents of the vape pen.
Prince was arrested Thursday night at Miami International Airport.
Prince’s attorney, Kent Shaffer, told People that Prince didn’t know there was a warrant out for his arrest.
“The only reason we knew was because he was out of the country on vacation. [Miami International] It shows that the airport and his name came out and there was a warrant and they took him into custody,” he said.
Shaffer added that the vape pen has “one hundredth of an ounce of THC, which is probably the least amount you can have.”
The Timberwolves have admitted they understand Prince’s situation.
In a statement via People, Minnesota said, “We are aware of the alleged reports of Taurean Prince and are in the process of gathering further information.
