The Sauk’s next production, Steel Magnolias, calls for six women of varying ages.
The action is set in Truby’s hair salon in Chinkapin, Louisiana, where all women who are “anyone” come to get their hair done. With the help of her eager new assistant Annelle (it is unclear if she is still married), the outspoken and wise Truby offers shampoo and free advice to Oiser, the town’s wealthy rogue. (“I’m not crazy. I’ve only been in a bad mood for 40 years”); And Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), the daughter of her M’Lynn, the local social leader, is about to marry the “good girl.”
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 16 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, August 20 at 2:00 PM at the Sauk Theater at 240 E. Chicago, Jonesville. The audition consists of cold reading from the script. No preparation required. Bring a list of all disputes between August 21st and October. 23. There are roles for six women (19 to her 70). Anyone over the age of 18 can audition for productions. Performances are October 13-15 and 20-22 at 8 PM, with matinees October 16 and 23 at 3 PM. All performances are at the Sauk Theater at 240 East Chicago, Jonesville. All tickets are $8-$13. The October 13th performance is a Pay What You Can preview. We do not sell preview tickets in advance. All senior tickets for the October 20th show are $5.
