New Jersey pro catches five 28-pound, 10-ounce smallmouths, wins by two pounds, tops $100,000
UNION SPRING, N.Y.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—It was an emotional afternoon for Vineland, N.J., pro Adrian Avena. After watching his roommates and travel partners win multiple victories and championships for seasons, the 12-year veteran finally earned his own red trophy. Avena caught eight high-scoring smallmouth bass on Sunday, with the top five weighing 28 pounds, 10 ounces, and the Major League Fishing (MLF) Bass Pro Tour Favorite Fishing Stage on Cayuga Lake, presented by ATG by Wrangler. 5 and won the top prize of $100,000.

Avena caught a total of 10 58-pound bass over two days of knockouts and the championship round to beat runner-up Spencer Shaffield of Hot Springs, Arkansas, by two pounds., In total, they caught ten 56-pound bass over two days, worth $45,000.
