Bergman Real Estate Group has a 2 million square foot office portfolio and has announced several sustainability initiatives to make a big impact across the space.
The move is part of Bergman Cares, which launched in 2020 to provide amenities “intended to promote the health, safety and well-being of tenant employees” throughout the company’s managed properties. .
According to the Iselin-based company, investments in renewable energy and sustainability cover a wide range of:
- Use green-certified cleaning supplies
- Switching to sustainable products, such as bathroom products made with highly recycled content
- Use paint with low volatile organic compounds (VOC)
- Introduction of energy efficient LED lighting
- Installation of HVAC systems to optimize energy consumption for better climate control
- Implement recycling programs in all buildings
- Installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations (currently operational at our Roseland facility, with more planned for 2022)
- Establishing a bike-sharing program

The company also plans to incorporate renewable energy into each property’s capital improvement program.

Additionally, under a unique partnership, Bergman works with the nonprofit American Forest to plant trees at their facility. Bergman said all properties will plant a tree for each new lease in the name of the new tenant.
