This week, we look back at four hot properties from the past six months, highlighting homes in Park Slope, Bed-Stuy, Prospect Heights and Cobble Hill. how did they get along?
Petite yet grand, this studio apartment sits on brownstone garden floors, is close to amenities like Prospect Park and Grand Army Plaza, and is relatively inexpensive. It’s his one of eight units in an 1880s Neo Grec townhouse in the Park Slope Historic District, at 19 7th Avenue. This former Co-op of the Day sold in April at an asking price of $399,000.
The circa-1900 townhouse in the Stuyvesant Heights Historic District is decorated in pale stone with encaustic tiles, fretwork, mantelpieces, moldings, tin ceilings, beadboards and original shutters at the entrance. The three family home is configured as a top floor rental of the owner’s duplex. This previous Open House Pick saw him sell for $1.932 million in May, beating the asking price by $337,000.
Bright green paint must be overlooked, but the brownstone interior of this Prospect Heights is filled with original details such as mantelpieces, pier mirrors and paneling. The home at 137 St. Marks Avenue also sits on a corner lot with a garage and bay windows that are three times his height to bring light inside. This former House of the Day he sold in June for $4.3 million, which is $1.2 million below his asking price.
Located in the Cobble Hill Historic District, this brownstone home retains some period details such as stucco work and a marble mantelpiece, as well as an updated kitchen. At 52 Tompkins Place, in the hands of the same family since the 1960s, two families seem to have been perfectly preserved. This former House of the Day was pulled from the market in June.
