If there’s anyone who can handle the Giants’ disappointing 2022 season with calmness, it’s Buster Posey.
The former Giants catcher joined KNBR 680’s “Murph & Mac” on Tuesday to provide an assessment of his former team’s season.
“For me, the simplistic view is that you have to remember that it’s a really hard game,” Posey said. You can, and it’s sometimes known as the game in inches, and it can be inches on or off the field.But it’s a really hard game.A 95-win season or an 80-win season is , sometimes it’s not as far off as we thought, and sometimes we tend to hit the panic button when things aren’t going well for two, three, four months.
“We all want to win 107 every year, but I always think that it’s not as far away as you think, and sometimes even if you’ve had a great year, it’s not that far. It’s been a bad year as you might think.
Posey, of all people, should know that all bets are off in October. For an organization with a history of never-dying attitudes, Posey will see the Giants finish the season strong and see where they land, and if they can’t claim one of the final NL wilds next season, Posey will have another. I believe we need to prepare for the title run of Card Spot.
“It’s no secret that all organizations have some sort of reboot or reorganization at some point, but from a fan perspective, we still want to feel competitive,” Posey explained. I don’t like going into the season and not feeling competitive, and if I can finish this year strong, I don’t know what’s going to happen and I think crazier things could have happened. It was our attitude in 2021, people said they would have laughed at us outside the clubhouse, but that was our mission to start that season and we achieved it. This is what I did. Sometimes certain situations tend to be exaggerated. ”

The Giants trailed the San Diego Padres by 8.5 games in the final wild card slot before Tuesday’s game against their division rivals. The odds are looking lower by the day, but technically there’s plenty of time to fill the ground and make things interesting.
If not, Posey and the Giants are looking forward to a more competitive season in 2023.
