COVID Safety Protocols Return to Lions VA Medical Center


BASKING RIDGE, NJ — With COVID-19 cases on the rise in the area, stricter protocols, including social distancing, will again be required at all VA New Jersey Health Care System sites and clinics.

Based on CDC’s community transmission levels (based on the rate of new COVID cases and positive tests), East Orange and Lions sites and clinics are adjusting COVID-19 safety protocols.

Since 14 May, 111 new positive cases have been reported in Berners Township. In the same timeframe, Somerset County reported 1,113 new positive cases, according to Somerset County.

VHA COVID-19 health protection levels are currently high and will be updated as needed on Monday.

“Our local veterans are adamant about receiving care at our facility and we want to keep them safe during the ups and downs of the growing COVID-19 community,” said John. A. Griffiths Deputy Medical Center Acting Director said. Access to care, safety protocols will be adjusted based on his COVID-19 level in the community. ”

Masks are required at all levels, but self-screening, visitation and physical distancing requirements vary. New requirements include:
