Diane von Furstenberg posts swimsuit selfie on Instagram

Diane von Furstenberg has been an icon of empowering women through style since she introduced her timeless wrap dress in the early 1970s. Like any true fashion icon, DVF has adapted to the times. If wrap dresses have been her fashion staple since the ’70s feminist, posting swimsuit selfies to her Instagram is her 2020s staple.

The iconic designer posted a full-length mirror selfie of herself in a chic cherry red dress with the caption:

She says, “Trying to own it and swimming for two hours every day helps!” increase. Thanks. ”

Von Furstenberg’s post garnered a lot of love in the comments section from many famous friends. Supermodel Iman wrote ‘Fearless & Beautiful’ using the heart emoji. Ava DuVernay wrote, “Stunning and sensational”. Andie McDowell simply commented, “Awesome.”

It goes without saying that everyone, regardless of age, should feel comfortable wearing a swimsuit. But it wasn’t long ago that posts like DVF began to garner more hateful and sexist backlash than outpourings of affection. Even today, the fashion industry clearly still has a long way to go in terms of actual body positivity and diversity. But in general, Diane von Furstenberg is on the right side of things . In 2015, for example, she sent an open letter to her colleagues asking them to increase runway diversity and model care. “New York Fashion As her week approaches, let’s remember that beauty is health and health is beauty,” she wrote via her HuffPo. “It’s also important to remember that beauty is diversity and, as an industry, we stand by these two principles.”
