Kershaw sat out August 4 against the San Francisco Giants with a back injury, and the Dodgers placed him on the disabled list. His left arm played a mock game on Saturday, and in four innings he threw 70 pitches.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that he will be rolling out a six-man starting rotation for at least “several weeks” when Kershaw returns to grow his pitching staff.
Kershaw said, “I felt good for a while.” Orange County Registry report.
“I felt good for a while,” said Kershaw. “In the situation we are in, this is more like a roster decision than anything else. It’s ready.Sometimes you can’t decide when to get on the pitch. They tell you.I try to listen to them as much as I can.I try not to rush too much.
Kershaw was also placed on the disabled list in May with a pelvic injury. When healthy, he’s probably having a well-received season in his Hall of Fame career. Kershaw has a 2.64 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, and 88 strikeouts in 15 starts (85.1 innings). He was also the 2022 MLB All-Star in his NL starting pitcher in his game, pitching one scoreless inning.
The long-running Dodgers have struggled with back, elbow and pelvic injuries in recent years and haven’t started in 30 regular-season games since 2015.
Los Angeles lost right-hander Walker Buehler to an elbow injury in June. Recently, it was announced that the right-hander underwent Tommy John surgery, ending his season. The Dodgers also traded Mitch White, who started 10 games, to his Blue Jays in Toronto at the deadline for MLB’s trade him.
Despite the aforementioned events, Los Angeles has one of the best starting rotations in the sport. Their rotation entered Sunday night with a combined 2.68 ERA (1st in MLB), 3.45 FIP (3rd) and 13.4 WAR (3rd).
Julio Urias has an ERA of 2.32. Tony Gonsolin has a 2.10 ERA. Tyler Anderson has a 2.69 ERA. Andrew Heaney and Ryan Pepiot got off to a dismal start to the season. Dustin May was recently dropped off the injured list.
The Dodgers have the best record in MLB at 88-38, 19.5 games behind the No. 1 San Diego Padres in the National League West.
