The Oklahoma Sooners haven’t made the college football playoffs since 2019, but all that could change if CBS Sports’ prediction comes true.
Jerry Palm’s latest bowl predictions for the 2022 season see the Oklahoma Sooners heading to the Peach Bowl as the No. 4 seed to face top-seeded Alabama in the College Football Playoffs.

Oklahoma is projected to be the No. 4 seed against Alabama in the Peach Bowl semifinals in Atlanta. The Sooners’ streak of six consecutive conference championships ended last season as OU lost to the road with eventual champions Baylor and Oklahoma State. Coach Brett Venables will replace Riley in Lincoln, who has taken off for USC and brought in some players. But at OU the cupboards are not bare. Returning to the top of the league is a tough challenge, but the Sooners will take home the Bears and Cowboys this season.
As we saw in 2021, the Big 12 conference has very few gimmicks. With a league beginning to embrace a more defensive mindset, the Sooners will be tested from Week 3 through the Big 12 championship game.
If they can make the playoffs to face the Crimson Tide, it won’t be an easy task for the Sooners.Alabama, led by 2021 Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, is back in the spotlight.

It’s a new day for Norman. Brent Venables revitalized the fanbase and provided new energy within the programme. To make it to the college football playoffs, Oklahoma needs to stay focused each week and not miss anyone. Based on what we know about Brent Venables and his coaching staff, it seems unlikely that Oklahoma will think highly of himself or look ahead.
Brent Venables knows what it takes to build and sustain success in college football, and he’s sure to do it with Norman.
