Today is the last day for early voting, but make sure you’re eligible before you go to the polls.
Only voters registered as Democrats in the 16th, 17th and 34th Senate districts of the House are eligible to vote.
Only registered Republican and Conservative voters in the 17th Congressional District are eligible to vote.
In New York’s 16th Ward, which covers South Westchester and the Bronx, Democratic Rep. Jamal Bowman is running for re-election against Westchester County Rep. Vedat Gasi and Katherine Parker. Mark Jaffe, president and CEO of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, has dropped out of the race.
In the 17th District, which spans the counties of Rockland, Westchester and Putnam, and part of the Duchess, Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney, who currently represents the 18th District and chairs the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said: I have decided to run in the new 17th District. He is facing off against New York State Senator Alessandra Biaggi.
The district also has a Republican primary, with five candidates: Business executive Jacques Schlepel. Shoshana David; and William Faulkner.
Mid-Hudson Valley’s new 18th Ward is open, with three Democrats seeking primary nominations. They include Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan. Moses Mugurushi, state financial inspector; Democratic strategist Aisha Mills.
There are also open races in the 19th precinct covering parts of the Southern Tier, the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. His two Democrats are running for office in the district: attorney Josh Riley and small business owner Jamie Cheney.
There are also special elections for seats that have been vacant since Democratic Antonio Delgado was appointed lieutenant governor. The candidates for the special election are Democrat Pat Ryan and Republican Dutchess County Administrator Mark Molinaro.
Voting is open until 6pm. First day is Tuesday, August 23rd.
