I have officially decided to attend UCLA. Words cannot express how excited I am to be able to tell you all.
Ultimately, I chose UCLA over USC. That’s because coach (Mick) Cronin reminded me of my high school coach. Very stubborn and realistic. I know he will push me beyond my limits and get me where I need to be.
As soon as he started recruiting me, I clicked. I talk to him all the time and he always gives me a different perspective on the game. He’s easy to connect with overall. I feel like he’s indebted to Coach Cronin. That’s a big deal for me.
It was a very painful decision. Until my official visit to UCLA, it was neck and neck.
I asked tough questions in meetings with visiting coaches and they were really honest. Also, I love their style of play and all the competition. High school practice was really intense and it reminded me of the energy we have.
I was sold
I came back after that officer and after talking to my parents decided to call the coach and let him know. I think he was driving somewhere at the time, and he was very excited.
I had a smile on my face and I could tell by the way he spoke that he had a big smile on his face.
It was the best moment that I will never forget.
Most people don’t know this, but after all, I actually grew up being a UCLA fan, so this is like a dream come true. I have more friends at USC, but Lonzo (Ball) and was a UCLA fan of that team.
Their plan is for me to come in and bring in the versatility of changing shots to block, rebound, shoot open threes, and finish at the rim.
This year, I’m really focused on pushing the break from the rebound and completing the game, so I’m 100 percent ready to step on the court and help my team from day one.
National domination is my only goal, so I’m putting all my energy into it.
The first thing I do is get more players on board. My first hit is definitely Andrei Stojakovic. I need him, so I’ll pick him up. I am the first commit and the goal is for him to be his second.
Phew, what a relief to get things done and done. I was lucky to be in this position, but stress and phone calls took a toll on me. I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling well again.
I hope it gave you more perspective on my thought process in this decision. Thanks to everyone who read.
All I can say is that I am happy to be a Bruin.
