Hockaday Holds Open House for Educators
The Hockaday Museum of Art is hosting a free open house for home-taught teachers and parents. Thursday, September 21 from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
Attendees will tour current exhibits and classrooms, learn about the museum’s educational programs, including those offered virtually, and chat with Hockaday Executive Director Alyssa Cordova and Education Director Kathy Martin to learn about current View art curriculum samples and projects, including those offered virtually, and network with others. Local educators, etc. There will also be a scavenger hunt, door prizes, drinks and snacks.

Nat single ticket sales are now open. Geo.speaker series
Single tickets to the National Geographic Live Speaker Series at the Wakholz College Center on the Flathead Valley Community College campus go on sale today, September 8th at 10am and start at $38 per event. Series subscription packages offering discounted tickets to all five events are still available through November 17th.
National Geographic’s Live Speaker Series provides audiences with insights and behind-the-scenes stories from National Geographic photographers, scientists, filmmakers and adventurers. Each event takes place live on the McLaren Hall stage, accompanied by iconic National Geographic footage and imagery.
The first 2022-2023 National Geographic Live Speaker Series will feature the following five speakers and topics on the McLaren Hall stage at Wakholz College Center.
• November 17th: Alicia Odewale – Greenwood: A Century of Resilience
• January 26: Rae Wynn-Grant – The Secret Life of Bears
• February 23: Bryan Smith – Capturing the Impossible
• March 30: Terry Verts – Aerial View (NOTE: Scheduled speaker changed from Kenny Broad to NASA Astronaut Terry Verts.
• April 27: Andy Mann – Summit to Sea

Valley Voices choir rehearsals start next week
The Valley Voices Community Choir will resume rehearsals this fall after a nearly three-year hiatus due to Covid 19. Rehearsals are on Mondays from 6-8pm. The season begins on September 12th in the choir room at Flathead High School. Registration begins at 5:30 pm and costs $45. Everyone is welcome. Masks are optional. There are no auditions, just the desire to sing with enthusiasm.
