Tahoe City Fine Arts and Crafts Festival this weekend
From 10am to 5pm Friday through Sunday, August 19-21, the Tahoe City Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will feature more than 45 artisans and artisans exhibiting their work at the Boatworks Mall.
This free event is held over two weekends and provides a platform for artisans to showcase their original handcrafted creations overlooking the lake.
The festival takes place at Boatworks Marina Green overlooking Lake Tahoe between the Boatworks Mall and event sponsor Tahoe City Downtown Association.

Friday Sierra Fodder Dinner
Mountain Area Preservation is celebrating its 35th anniversary at the 12th Annual Sierra Forage Dinner on Friday, August 19th at 5:30pm at the Olympic Valley Stables.
Dinner includes a family-friendly multi-course farm-to-table meal by Noisettes, wine pairings by Illanta Wines, a live auction benefiting MAP, and live music by Kurt Bickering and Sean Duerr. A toast to honor decades of environmental advocacy in the watershed.
Tickets are available as individual tickets for $225 per person or $2,500 for tables that seat up to 10 people. Your ticket purchase includes a private ten-top farm table with a special champagne welcome. Limited to 150 seats.

Live music at Alibi Yale Works Truckee Public House
The Alibi Ale Works Truckee Public House will host acoustic duo Wild Ginger on Saturday, August 20th at 8:30 PM.
With harmonious melodies and backup musicians, the duo of Shannon Carroll and Hunter Merritt blend folk, rock, pop, blues and Americana tunes to keep the audience rocking to the beat.
The event is free and food and drinks are available for purchase during the show.
End the weekend with a bluegrass jam at the Truckee Public House. With beer and an open stage, anyone who wants to play good music and just relax and enjoy the evening can join in. The open stage is from 6-8pm and is free.

Xterra comes to Lake Tahoe
The Xterra Lake Tahoe 5k and 10k Trail Run will be held on Sunday, August 21st at the same time as the Xterra Lake Tahoe Triathlon. Trail runs start and end at Village Green in Incline Village, where the main stage is located. From the starting area, the course takes participants north through a trail system that features tall pines, aspens, and creek crossings.
5,000 runners do 1 lap, 10,000 runners do 2 laps. The second lap begins at Village Green with a fun viewing area to cheer on participants.
Additionally, a BBQ lunch is available for $15, but is not included in the 5k or 10k races.
Both runs start at 9am, with the kids’ race starting at 10:30am. Registration closes Saturday, August 20th at 7:59pm. Sign-up fees vary by age and type of race.
Early that morning, at 7:30 am in Sand Harbor, the Xterra Triathlon begins. The race begins as he swims 1500 meters across the lake before cycling through Tunnel His Creek to Flume Trail and speeding past Marlette Lake to Tahoe Rim His Trail. This is followed by a climbing and 5km running course, ending at the Village Green at approximately 12:30pm.
The East Shore Trail is closed from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

The Brains of the Bots Lego Program at the Kid Zone Museum
The Kid Zone Museum in Truckee is offering a Brains on the Bots program for children in grades 5-8 the week of Monday, August 22-26 from 1:30-4:30pm .
This program was created to help children turn on their brains when they return to school. Participate in activities such as sumo wrestling and dance competitions, or build and program LEGO robots.

Truckee Donner Land Trust Docent hikes the Lower Carpenter Valley
The Truckee Donner Land Trust will take a guided hike through the Lower Carpenter Valley on Tuesday, August 23rd at 9am. by Doctor. The hike is free and your guide can answer any questions you have about the land and its inhabitants.
There are many ways to get to the meeting point. From downtown Truckee, take 89 North toward Sierraville and turn left onto Alder Creek Road. After the intersection with Schussing, take the first right onto Carpenter Valley Road. From Tahoe Donner, follow Alder Creek Road onto HWY 89 and turn left onto Carpenter Valley Road just past the Tahoe Donner campground.
Trailhead parking is to the right of the locked gate. Be careful not to block roads or gates.

soaring lunch block party
Summer is coming to an end and Soaring Ranch is celebrating a successful season with the Soaring Ranch Block Party on Thursday, August 25 at 5pm. The event was held in partnership with the Truckee Chamber of Commerce and the Humanitarian Society of Truckee Tahoe. Admission is free, but a $5 donation or pet pantry item is recommended. If brought in, it must be unopened, expired pet food or litter.
The event is dog friendly and the HSTT will be onsite to provide details on how to support programs and organizations.
The event will feature live music by local band Pipedown, and guests will be able to learn more about businesses within the Soaring Ranch, including Grizzly Menswear, Martis Valley Massage, Truckee Brewing Company and Raley’s ONE Market.
