Family and friends prepare to say a final goodbye to the Spring Valley man who was murdered last weekend as police continue to search for the killer.
The family of Stalin de la Cruz Tigusalema will gather at the Sniffen Sagara Funeral Home later today. A memorial service was held at her parents’ house last night.
A 20-year-old man from Ecuador was stabbed several times in the chest, stomach and back while walking towards his home on Van Oden Avenue early Saturday morning.
He managed to walk to his home for help and his family flagged down a police car in the area.
Tigusalema was taken to hospital but later died from her injuries.
Family members told News 12 that they suspect this was a botched robbery as his phone went missing. They offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
They say he worked at a construction site with his father and was here in the United States for about a year, describing him as a hardworking family man with no criminal or violent record.
Tiguzalema’s family is devastated as they plan to bring his body back to Ecuador for burial. He leaves behind a two-year-old daughter.
