The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has recalled approximately 13,099 pounds of frozen meat pizza products from Woodbridge, Illinois-based Home Run In Frozen Foods.
Frozen meat pizza was manufactured on June 6, 2022. The following products are subject to the recall. [view labels]:
- A 33.5 oz carton containing “Home Run Inn CHICAGO’S PREMIUM PIZZERIA DELUXE SAUSAGE CLASSIC PIZZA” with an “expiration date” of “12/03/22”.
The recalled product has the establishment number “EST. 18498-A” inside the USDA inspection mark. These items were shipped to distributors in Illinois and then distributed to retailers.
The failure was discovered when the company notified FSIS that it had received a consumer complaint that metal was found in the pizza.
There are no confirmed reports of injury or side effects from consumption of these products. People concerned about injury or illness should contact their healthcare provider.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumer freezers or found at distributors and retailers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them.In addition, distributors and retailers are urged not to sell these products. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS will periodically conduct recall validity checks to ensure that recall companies are giving notice. The customer of the recall and that steps have been taken to confirm that the product is no longer available to consumers. A retail sales listing will be posted on his FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls as it becomes available.
