Global independent film distributor Gravitas Ventures has acquired the North American, Australian and New Zealand rights to Scott Lyus’ debut film Walking Against the Rain.
The story of Blair and Tommy tells the story of two strangers, Blair and Tommy, who traverse an empty landscape in search of each other, relying only on two soon-to-be-dead battery-powered radio microphones for communication. As they seek to escape a new evil monster, they face loss and grief and learn to trust humanity again.
“Walking Against The Rain” is written and directed by Lyus, in collaboration with Chris Nials, and produced under British production company Crossroad Pictures.
The cast includes Sofia Eleni, Reese Douglas, Johnny Vivash, Francesca Louise White, Diane Spencer and James Swanton. The film boasts full-body, practical creature effects by his BIFA-winning FX designer, Dan Martin (“Infinity Pools”).
The film had successful festival tours, including a sold-out world premiere at Flightfest in the UK, Best Overall Film at Nightmare Film Festival in the US and Trieste Science + Fiction Film Festival in Italy.Panic Fest in America
Lyus says:
“The underlying themes of ‘Walking Against the Rain’ are loss, grief, and characters hiding in old-school utilitarian monsters in empty yet beautiful landscapes. It’s an exploration of how to embrace a new life in a new movie.
Gravitas will release the film on demand and home video in North America on May 23rd.
Danielle Gasher, Senior Director of Acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures, added: We are thrilled to bring this film to North American audiences on May 23rd. “
Gasher has negotiated a deal with Taylor & Dodge’s Nick Ericsson.
“Walking Against the Rain” is available for pre-order on iTunes.
