Indiana – Economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has left many homeowners behind on their mortgages or in financial trouble trying to make payments.
Forgivable loans are available through the Indiana Homeowners Assistance Fund to help Hoosiers avoid evictions and foreclosures.
Funded entirely by federal dollars, the IHAF helps cover delinquent mortgage payments for eligible homeowners.
Property tax, insurance and homeowners fee payments are also supported. Once approved, the funds go directly to the mortgage servicer.
To be eligible for IHAF, applicants must live in a single-family home, condominium, two-, three-, or four-family residence, or a home permanently anchored to real estate.
Applicants must also be experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as unemployment or family care.
Applicants must also meet the program’s income limits.
Hoosier families in need of help are encouraged to apply at www.877gethop.org.
