Indian studio Excel Entertainment has promoted its head of operations, Vishal Ramchandani, to the newly created CEO role.
An MBA qualified Ramchandani joined Excel’s marketing department in 2008. In 2013, he was appointed head of the department and has been responsible for marketing his campaigns for award-winning films such as ‘Fukrei’, ‘Burl Burr Deco’, ‘Gold’ and ‘Gully Boy’. I took command of the team.
In 2018, Ramchandani was promoted to the position of business director. In this role, he played a pivotal role in transforming Excel Entertainment from a creative production house to a self-funded film marketing and distribution studio.
Under his leadership, the company’s distribution business diversified with the KGF franchise, which became a national blockbuster. He has also helped Excel expand into various areas such as talent departments and co-production agreements, as well as promoting his ventures in new media.
Mr Ramchandani said: “I am very happy and humbled to take on the role of CEO of Excel Entertainment in my hometown for the past 15 years. I look forward to working with our incredibly talented team to advance our vision for the future.We have plans to expand into all areas and bring Excel to life. Excel was founded by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar in 2001 and their first film was the seminal Bollywood hit ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. Upcoming projects include feature films ‘Fukrey 3’, ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’, ‘Yudhra’, ‘Madhgaon Express’, ‘Agni’, ‘Ground Zero’ and Amazon Prime Video series ‘Dahaad ” and so on.
