Police in New Jersey are investigating Bronx rapper Lil Tjay after he was shot multiple times in an alleged attempted armed robbery.
The violence occurred just after midnight on Wednesday in Edgewater. Officers responded to calls for multiple shots fired at his apartment complex on the Promenade. There they discover that Lil Jay, also known as Tione Merritt, has multiple gunshot wounds.
Another man was found at a gas station on River Road and shot once.
Both victims were taken to hospital. The status of Lil Tjay and the other victim are unknown.
Three men were arrested and charged after the shooting. Manhattan’s Mohamed Konate faces three counts of him each for attempted murder, armed robbery, and weapons charges. Police said they tried to rob the rapper and two friends he was with when the shooting happened.
Jeffrey Valdes and Antoine Boyd, both from the Bronx and with Merritt, were arrested on charges of possession of a weapon when they were found in possession of a gun.
