Kay Ivey’s office released a photo Friday of the governor greeting South Dakota Gov. Christy Nome amid questions about Ivy’s health.
The photo, the first public image of Ivy since Aug. 2, shows Ivy shaking hands and posing with Noem, who is set to speak at an Alabama Republican Party rally on Friday night.
“I am proud to welcome my friend, South Dakota Governor Christy Nome, personally to Alabama this afternoon.” We’re showing the world what it’s like to have common sense leadership, and I know Governor Noem will make a great visit.”
“wonderful”:Governor Kay Ivey is ‘doing well’ amid health rumors, spokeswoman says
al.com reported Thursday that Ivey’s office has refused to answer questions about her health for a week and has not released a schedule for this week’s public events. Advertisers sent questions to the office about Ivey’s health after the al.com article was published.
In a statement, spokeswoman Gina Maiola called the speculation “fake rumors.”
“Governor Ivey is doing well and we continue to thank Good Lord for keeping him healthy and cancer-free,” the statement said. “I look forward to her leading Alabama for many years to come.”
The governor’s office has not responded to questions about whether Ivy has received any medical treatment in the past two weeks.
