Joni Mitchell wowed crowds yesterday (July 24) at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival with her first full set concert appearance in 20 years. , Brandi Carlisle, performing multiple classics including ‘A Case of You’, ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ and ‘Both Sides Now’. It was supported by a group of artists including Blake Mills, Marcus Mumford, Taylor Goldsmith, Lucius’ Jess Wolfe, Holly Laessig and Wynonna Judd. Check out a video of the set below.
In particular, Brandi wrote an essay for Joni’s 2021 box set Reprise album (1968-1971). “In my opinion, blue It’s the best album ever made,” she wrote. “blue It didn’t make me a better songwriter. blue made me a better woman. Whatever we are dealing with in this era, of all the times we have lived in, we can rejoice and know that we lived in the age of Joni Mitchell. ”
Mitchell was honored at MusiCares’ Person of the Year gala in April, and also made his first live appearance in nearly a decade. The 78-year-old singer-songwriter has rarely made her public appearances since she suffered a brain aneurysm in 2015.
