JSU donates food and water during annual crop drop


Jackson, Mississippi (WJTV) – Jackson State University (JSU) hosted an annual crop drop service project at Blackburn Middle School.

The line stretched almost all the way to Ellis Avenue. Dozens of volunteers came to help. Students say they are happy to help their community.

“When given the opportunity, I like to go out and help where needed because that’s what you have to do.”

“I love giving back to the community. It’s nice to see the smiles on the faces of the community in addition to community service time.”

KHALIYA ERVIN / ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT / COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:

“We do this every year to give back to the community and to give back to the community…We have seen many smiles.Many people are happy.Especially with the current boiling water “By providing this water, we are helping others by not having to go to the store to find it,” said Administrative Assistant Hariya Ervin.

The goal was to donate 10,000 sweet potatoes, 350 watermelons and 1,000 cases of water.
