Kenan Thompson thinks it’s “ridiculously exciting” to host the Emmys.

While this is Kenan’s first time hosting an Emmy, he is no stranger to the ceremony and has been nominated six times in the past, most recently winning Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for “Kenan” last year. He has won his one award in the past, winning his Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics Award in 2018 for the song “Come Back, Barack” on “SNL.”
The nominations for this year’s ceremony were announced last month, and “SNL” added nine more nods to its record-breaking 306 overall nominations.
“Succession” received 25 votes in the 2022 Primetime Emmy nominations.
Brian Cox, who plays media dynasty patriarch Logan Roy, and his on-screen son Jeremy Strong, who plays Kendall Roy, are both up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Nicholas Brown, Matthew Macfadyen and Kieran Culkin (who play Cousin Gregg, Tom Wamsgans and Roman Roy respectively) are all nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, alongside Sarah Snook (Siv Roy) and J. Smith Cameron ( Jerry Kellman) both won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
“Ted Lasso” and “The White Lotus” followed closely with 20 nominations each, while “Hacks” and “Only Murders in the Building” both received 17 nominations.
