Chef Rino Yee’s Korean-American pop-up TKO will open as a permanent food stall in September at the Southern Feed store in East Atlanta Village (EAV), Mini Food’s Brazilian restaurant and coffee bar Buteco, Woody Join ‘s Cheesesteak, Gyro Gyro and Waffle Bar. hole.
Short for “the Korean One,” TKO should be open for lunch and dinner daily, and also serve late-night snacks on Friday and Saturday nights. The menu includes many of the same dishes served at last year’s Ease His pop-up, including Korean corn dogs, kimchi fried rice, Korean fried chicken sandwiches, and hot and spicy tteokbokki (rice cakes).
Yi is now the sous chef at Candler Park’s Lazy Betty, where he has been for the last three years. Prior to Lazy Betty, he worked at Courtyard by Marriott’s Makan and Taiyo Ramen in Decatur, under the direction of owner Michael Lo and chef George Yu. That space is now home to Platez Southern Kitchen and Cocktailz.
Yee founded TKO in 2021, opening restaurants around Atlanta, including Butteco in Grant Park and Dead End Drinks in Kirkwood.
“I researched several locations before making a decision, but ultimately agreed that EAV best suited my style of cooking and the atmosphere and aesthetic we were aiming for.” , Yi said of the opening at the Southern Feed store this summer.
The Southern Feeds store opened last December in the former Graveyard Tavern space along Glenwood Avenue. After Graveyard Tavern closed in 2020, Pellerin Real Estate, the developer of Grant Park’s Beacon, bought the 100-year-old building and turned it into a mini food hall with communal seating. Rafael Pereira, owner of Buteco, is also part owner and manager of the EAV Food Hall.
The Food Hall is named after the forage store that occupied the building from 1927 to the 1940s.
