WICHITA, Kansas (KWCH) – Thursday night’s Morgan Warren concert at INTRUST Bank Arena was the first sold-out show at a downtown Wichita venue since early 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The sold out crowd was a great feeling. Everyone was smiling and enjoying the night and it felt really good,” said Christine Pileckas, Reservations and Marketing Director for INTRUST Bank Arena.
The concert drew about 12,000 people to the arena and marked the start of a busy stretch in Wichita. More events are on the way this weekend, and more are planned for next year as live entertainment recovers from the pandemic.
After Thursday night’s show, Pilekas said it felt like live entertainment in Wichita was back in full swing.
On Friday, the ‘West Fest’ featuring Ice Cube and Cypress Hill brought thousands more to the INTRUST Bank Arena.
This is not just a benefit for concert goers and arenas.
“It was a great success with a lot of people from inside and outside the prefecture. It just has a huge economic impact on the whole community, hotels, restaurants and local businesses,” Pilekas said. So it feels good to be able to book these acts and bring them in, which is obviously a huge success for the arena, but also a positive impact on the Wichita community as a whole. ”
