MANITOWOK COUNTY, WI (NBC 26) — Angel Her says she enjoys spending time in the country growing up.
But over the past year and a half, Manitowoc teenagers have become accustomed to a more hectic life on the runway.
“My mother did it,” she said. “She did some research and then started applying to me.”
She is 14 years old and works as a fashion model while participating in contests.
She has won titles such as Miss Hmong USA America Nation 2022 and Miss America Nation 2023.
“It was my first runway show and I was a little nervous, but I think I will get used to it,” she said. “I just focus on the camera and do my thing.”
It has been Angel’s dream since he was four or five years old.
Lincoln High School students are now featured in international magazines and numerous films.
“The hardest thing is probably not comparing yourself to other people or how they walk or how they look,” she said.
This fall, she received the keys to the city of Manitowoc. Angel’s proud mother spoke of her daughter’s time outside the area.
“I really sat her down and made sure this was what she really wanted to do,” said Michelle Gestle. Because.”
Angel also uses the spotlight to make a difference. She works to raise money for the Manitowoc Domestic Violence Center.
“She sets her own goals,” said Gesl. “You don’t even have to tell her like, ‘Hey, you need to do this.'”
The mother and daughter duo have traveled from coast to coast.
“One of the main goals of modeling is probably [in] milan fashion week [in] Come to New York Fashion Week and be on the cover of Vogue,” she said.
Before that, Angel gives advice to others pursuing the same dream.
“All you need is confidence and conviction in yourself and you can do anything if you put your heart into it,” she said.
