The New York Mets have called up front-runner Brett Beatty. He was in the lineup and played 3rd for 8 on Wednesday night against the Braves in Atlanta.
The 22-year-old and the 12th overall pick of 2019, Batty has had an excellent season. In his 95 games at Double-A and Triple-A levels in 2022, he has slashed .315/.410/. did. He is the primary third baseman this season and has also seen time in left field.

Some industry evaluators were skeptical when the Mets drafted Beatty 12th overall in 2019. Their criticism had more to do with his age than him as a player, as he was rushing towards his 20th birthday despite being in high school. 292/.382/.473 with 12 home runs and 22 his doubles in high and double-A. Batty’s booster sees a strong third baseman who could be a positive hitter.
