Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan reunite in Disney+’s ‘American Born Chinese’ teaser



It’s a big night for “Everything Everywhere All at Once” at the Oscars, but stars Michelle Yeoh and Ke Hui Kuan are already looking to the future with “American Bone Chinese.” The two actors reunite in the first teaser for the action-comedy series.

 

The footage, released Sunday morning by Disney+, concludes with the announcement of the series’ May 24th premiere date.

 

Based on the critically acclaimed 2006 graphic novel by cartoonist Jean Luen Yang, the series follows Jin Wang, a child of Chinese immigrants who struggles to grow up in a predominantly white suburb. This is the story of (Ben Wang). He meets a new Taiwanese classmate and the two become best friends, but Jin is drawn into a battle between the gods of Chinese mythology.

 

In addition to Yoo and Quan, the video also teases that Stephanie Sue, who co-starred in “Everything Everywhere,” will make a guest appearance. Yeoh, Quan, and Hsu are all nominated for Oscar performances at this Sunday’s Academy Awards. After his online debut, his teaser for First Look will also air during the Academy Awards broadcast on ABC.

 

The cast also includes Yo Yang Yang, Ching Han, Daniel Wu, Sidney Taylor and Poppy Liu.

 

Kelvin Yu serves as the series’ executive producer and showrunner. Director Destin Daniel Cretton of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” will helm the episode and serve as executive producer. Other executive producers include Melvin Ma, Jake Kasdan, Erin O’Malley, Asher Goldstein, and Gene Luen Yang.
