Mintz Sports and Entertainment Leader Switches Law Firm to Holland & Knight

Reuters – Holland & Knight said Wednesday it added three lawyers, including two leaders, from the sports and entertainment divisions of rival law firms Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Grofsky and Popio. Announced.

Keith Carroll and Anthony Mulrain have joined as Co-Chairs of Holland & Knight’s Sports and Entertainment Legal. They will work alongside Tyrone Thomas, another co-chairman of Mintz’s sports and entertainment division, who left the company in July.

Commenting on her decision to join Holland & Knight, Carroll said, “It was clear that they are serious about growing their sports and entertainment practice both nationally and internationally.

Christopher Kelly, who heads Holland & Knight’s litigation section, said in a statement that the company is devoting more resources to its work in the sports and entertainment industry.

Mullane, who splits his time between New York and Atlanta, has represented former Miami Heat basketball players Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and rapper Shad Gregory Moss, better known as Bow Wow.

“The market would be shocked if they knew the level of sports and entertainment clients that Holland & Knight had, and that was before we even arrived,” said Mulrain.

Boston-based Carroll, representing managers and employees of the Boston Red Sox baseball team, investigated whether MLB used video equipment to steal signs from opposing pitchers.

MLB found sign stealing to have “limited scope and impact” in 2020. The league stripped the team of his second-round pick in the 2020 Amateur Draft and suspended the team’s video operator.

Also joining Holland & Knight is Washington, DC-based partner O’Kelly McWilliams. McWilliams’ duties include, among other things, helping companies handle internal investigations and whistleblower complaints, according to the company.

Mintz managing member Bob Bodian said in a statement that he hopes Carroll, Mullane and McWilliams are all right.
