With the 2022 Mississippi State Fair fast approaching, the Department of Agriculture and Commerce (MDAC) announced this year’s entertainment line-up on Thursday.
“We look forward to welcoming the public to the 163rd Annual Mississippi State Fair on Thursday, October 6,” said Ag Commissioner Andy Gipson. “State Fair continues to grow each year with new activities for 11 days of fun family entertainment.”
This year’s fair headliners include nationally recognized artists Scotty McCreery, BoB, Midnight Star and Bobby Rush.
McCreery stepped onto the scene as the winner of the 10th season american idol, He has become one of country music’s beloved deep-voiced singers. McCreary’s most popular hits include “I Love You This Big,” “See You Tonight,” and her latest hit, “Damn Strait.”
BoB rose to stardom in 2010 with the hit “Nothin’ On You,” which featured multi-Grammy Award-winning artist Bruno Mars. The rapper remained popular with the song “Airplanes,” which featured Mississippi native Hayley Williams.
Midnight Star and Bobby Rush give onlookers a taste of the oldies. The Midnight Star is best known for the groovy hit “Midas Touch,” which made the city buzz in the 1980s.
Iconic blues artist Bobby Rush returns to the birthplace of American music to make Mississippians feel at home. Rush is his two-time Grammy Award-winning artist and a member of both the Blues Hall of Fame and his Mississippi Musician’s Hall of Fame.
MDAC also announced the introduction of the Great American Wild West Show to the State Fair. The show runs daily at 5:30 pm and 7:15 pm, with additional performances on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm. The show includes a pig race, a petting zoo, pony rides, a train depot, and a rattlesnake show.
“The Great American Wild West Show is an energetic, exciting and entertaining western show,” Gipson explains. “For more than 25 years, the Endsleys have brought to life the glitz and excitement of the American West. Just as Buffalo Bill popularized the ‘Wild West’, the Endsleys brought the ‘Great American Wild’ to life.・We breathed life into the waist. ”
Of course, you can also listen to a number of local acts, check out the annual talent show, and take part in the usual carnival rides and games at the fairgrounds.
The 2022 Mississippi State Fair will run Thursday, October 6 through Sunday, October 16, with admission of $5 per person and parking of $5 per vehicle. Children 6 and under are admitted free of charge.
