Richmond, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Raceway was the venue on Sunday afternoon as the NASCAR Cup Series Federated Auto Parts 400 race filled the stands with NASCAR fans across the country. family.
When the gates opened at noon, fans enjoyed a fierce cornhole game in the tailgate parking lot, heard live music outside the stadium, and watched the thrilling race at 3pm.
“It’s exciting and overwhelming. We saw a lot of cornholes and tailgating. Jones said.
After 400 laps the race was very competitive. Kevin Harvick achieved his fourth win of his career at Richmond Raceway and his second consecutive victory in the 2022 NASCAR Cup his series.
“It’s been a while since I’ve been to Victory Lane… it’s a different place,” said Harvick. “Today my team made some great tweaks and did a great job on pit road.It was all the little details and the speed of the car.”
NASCAR usually comes to Richmond Raceway on Saturday night during the fall playoffs. Since the last race in April, Richmond Raceway has announced a new president, Lori Waran. Sunday’s race was held in the afternoon, as the team wanted families and children to be able to attend, and Richmond fans showed support.
“Great. There are so many people here! It’s great to see you all and it’s great for Richmond. Seeing all the diversity here is great for Richmond,” said Jones.
