Trenton – New Jersey Senator Ronald Rice’s retirement, Stacey Berger, president and CEO of the New Jersey Housing and Community Development Network (the Network), issued the following statement:
“We are immensely grateful to Senator Rice for being a staunch advocate for the people of New Jersey. He is an advocate for our most vulnerable neighbors and communities, and those who need it most. During his decades of public service, Senator Rice has led with principle, integrity, and compassion to serve the people and people he serves. I have fought for communities of color, especially as head of the legislative black caucus.
“It has been a great honor to work with Senator Rice. The two programs are unique to NJ and exist only because he fought to make them happen. He also coached a host of foreclosure mediation programs, tenant protection, and other housing programs.
“I miss seeing Senator Rice in the state legislature and talking to him about everything from policy issues to our family. On behalf of all the members and staff who have been with us, we would like to thank and congratulate him on his unparalleled career.
