New entertainment district officially opens in Greenville’s West End

GREENVILLE (WSPA) — The people of Greenville now have new entertainment venues to enjoy.

Greenville Drive held a ribbon-cutting event unveiling its newest attraction just outside Fluor Field in Greenville’s West End.

“This is a very special day for us, the day we unveil our newest world-class amenities for the city. It’s also our 16th Green Day,” said Craig Brown, owner of Greenville Drive.

“Nowadays, Fluor Field is known as the front porch of the community, not just the front porch of the Main Street community, but the front porch of the community as a whole,” says Brown. “And it’s something we’re very proud of. There’s no doubt that District 356 will further extend the impact that Fluor Field has had.”

The City of Greenville and Greenville Drive have been talking about this project for years. Now this will be where people can take the ball.

“I think a lot of people will get closer, go out and do things together as a family,” said resident Joanne Coffey.

“Now I’m standing at Ground Zero, family-friendly, all-ages fun. So there’s a sports museum. There’s a street performer. There’s a face painter, there’s a balloon artist. You see an inflatable.” You’ve got food trucks, musicians everywhere, there’s so much going on in this pedestrian zone, it’s going to be like a carnival in spring, summer and fall.” Brown said.

The new red light district is already a big hit with the kids.

“We love bouncy houses and other things,” said Harmony.

The carnival-like atmosphere is modeled after the streets outside the Boston Red Sox’s Fenway Park.

“This new street is kind of cool because I’ve been to the real Fenway, and it reminds me of that. It looks really similar,” said event attendee Isaac McKittrick. said.

“Spring, summer and fall have a carnival vibe, but it’s also a place to gather. said Brown.

The new area isn’t just for baseball enthusiasts.

“This is the start of a lot for our community,” said Lillian Bullock Fleming of Greenville City Council.

“Come enjoy a ballpark for the community, a ballpark for the community. So we’re excited. Thank you for coming,” Fleming said. “Then let’s play with a ball.”

Leaders said what people saw Wednesday was just the beginning. More activities and events are planned for the future.

“Blood movement, diet movement. So District 356 jumps 365 days a year. It’s exciting, but it’s not the end. This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for further announcements.” said Mr Brown.
