New live entertainment space opens at Flamingo Resort

Santa Rosa’s newest nightspot has a long history.

Vintage Space officially opens this weekend at Flamingo Resort, a local landmark since it was built in 1957.

Since 2019, the hotel has been systematically renovated under the ownership of San Francisco-based Palm House Hospitality. The new look of the cocktail lounge and live performance space is the latest step.

Anderson Pugash, co-owner of Palm House Hospitality, has spent the past few months reinventing the space with designer Brian Anderson.

“Locals still love this place. I love hearing their stories,” Pugash said. “We envisioned a space that pays homage to a building that has been here for a long time and has a lot of history. No.”

The 2,700-square-foot space will celebrate its grand opening weekend on Friday with live music by the Santa Rosa band’s Marshall House Project and DJ NADI’s mix of African, Latin and Caribbean music on Saturday . Last weekend, the venue hosted a low-key “soft opening” event.

We have a live band every Friday and a DJ every Saturday. Upcoming acts include San Francisco reggae and Latin music band Bayonics on August 26th and Northern California DJ Miguel Migs on September 17th.

Long term, the owners plan to add a few additions along with a wide variety of old and new music. The space includes a bar, lounge seating, and a crescent-shaped dance floor.

“We’ll throw Halloween and New Year parties and be in some comedy shows,” Pugash said.

Vintage Space’s décor seeks a middle ground between casual and sophisticated, nostalgic yet futuristic. It is based on the era of the “space race” between the United States and the Soviet Union, sparked by Sputnik 1, the first successful Soviet satellite launch. , 4 October 1957.

“It was a time of great possibilities where anything could happen.

The pictures on the walls range from historical snapshots of flamingos to retro space-themed art. The “Cosmic Cocktail” menu includes Cosmonauts, Dr. Manhattan and Black Hole His Espresso Martini.

Draft beer, glass wine, and non-alcoholic drinks are also available.

Palm House Hospitality, which spawned popular San Francisco hangouts Palm House and The Durian, was co-founded by Pugash and Benson Wang. Together, he owns and operates five businesses in the Bay Area, including Bergerac, Crossroads Nightlife, and Fifty Fifty Cocktail Company.

Flamingo Resort is a joint venture of Yang Capital and Palm House Hospitality.
