Newcastle are in talks to sign former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius after Carl Darlow was injured during training on Wednesday.
Karius became a free agent after his contract with Liverpool expired in the summer.
Alisson has not played for Liverpool since joining in 2018, having spent the last two years on loan at Besiktas and Union Berlin.
The 29-year-old has already undergone a medical examination at Newcastle and has signed a short-term contract to join St James’ Park.
