Duluth, Minnesota – The Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank recently purchased a new facility in the Morgan Park Neighborhood.
Formerly an Iconix Corporation building, the space was purchased by Second Harvest for $6.7 million. The food bank’s current facility was built 20 years before him, and operations have exceeded its capacity since then.
The new space will allow the food bank to increase food distribution, offer programs in the Morgan Park area, and expand volunteerism with the long-term goal of increasing current operations by 10-15%. .
“We are thrilled to be able to meet the needs of this region. As a food bank, we offer over 40 food shelf and other non-profit programs that will bring us to Erie, Moose Lake and Wisconsin. It gives us the opportunity to step up our game to provide more food for Harley, Hibbing, etc. It really expands our ability to provide assistance to our neighbors in need,” said Second Harvest.・Shay Morris, executive director of Northern Lakes Food Bank, said.
Second Harvest hopes to move operations into the new building by late 2023 or early 2024.
