the sinkhole of The intersection of 238th Street and Katona Avenue worries some Bronx residents who say nothing has been done to the hazards. Pause.
Woodlawn Neighbors Say Corn Has Covered It’s a sinkhole, but it’s frequently knocked down. They say that buses that run in the area must go around the area.
A resident told News 12 that he has lived in the area for several months and has received several complaints, but the Katona Avenue sinkhole remains. Said it needs to be fixed as 19 is nearby.
“It is unbelievable that no one has done anything about this. We have called 311 to various agencies and no one has done anything about it,” said resident Jim Ganon said.
Dennis Riley lives in the area and has managed the location business for nearly 19 years at Intersection. His primary concern, he says, is the safety of the community.
“There are a lot of people in there, a lot of elderly people with injuries. “One of these gentlemen who were in the house had to help the lady,” Riley said, “because she was older.”
Dennis and Jim say they want the same thing.
News 12 has reached out to the Ministry of Environmental Protection to find out what is being done to resolve the issue, but has yet to hear back.
