Orioles start Pittsburgh Series in wet fashion (8/5/22)


After a rain delay, the Orioles pitched a shutout.

After a day off and road sweep, the Orioles returned to Camden Yards to start a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The 7:05 match was postponed due to rain, but was able to start around 8:50 pm EST.

O’s starting line-up:

The starting pitcher is Dean Kramer (3.76 ERA).

Pirates starting lineup:

1. T. Marcano LF, 2. B. Reynolds CF, 3. B. Gammel DH, 4. K. Hayes 3B, 5. O. Cruz SS, 6. K. Newman 2B, 7. B. Madris 1B, 8 C. Mitchell RF, 9. J. Delay C

The starting pitcher is Mitch Keller (4.32 ERA).

The Orioles and Pirates engaged in a pitching duel throughout the game.

Brett Phillips hit a double in his first at-bat as an Oriole at Camden Yards in the fourth inning.

In the sixth, the O’s finally took the lead as Ramon Urias hit a bouncer single to score Anthony Santander for a 1–0 lead.

Sionel Perez (1.21 ERA) dismissed Dean Kremer in the seventh inning. Kremer recorded two strikeouts, making him the only Baltimore starter to pitch multiple games in six or more innings this season, after Jordan Lyles.

Manny Banuelos (4.41 ERA) saved Mitch Keller in the seventh inning. Keller he struck out one.

Johan Ramirez (6.35 ERA) saved Banuelos in the ninth inning.

Felix Bautista (1.81 ERA) came in to end the game for O and was rewarded with a save.

The Orioles were able to take Game 1 against the Pirates. The next game will take place on Saturday, August 6th at 5:05pm.
