Pair sexually assaulted at gunpoint by stranger who jumped out of bush in Great Falls


The Passaic County Attorney’s Office announced it has arrested and charged a man in connection with a sexual assault at gunpoint in Paterson’s Great Falls.

William Vazquez, 32, is charged with multiple counts, including first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree sexual assault.

The incident took place on August 9, 2021, when a woman and a man in Great Falls, Paterson, found police in the area and reported being sexually assaulted at gunpoint by a stranger who ran out of bushes with silver. It happened sometimes. A revolver in his hand.

Formal statements were taken from each victim, police said. The suspect’s vehicle was also identified at the scene. Vasquez was later identified as a suspect and charged accordingly.

Vasquez is currently being held in Bergen County Jail. The state filed a petition for pretrial detention, which was granted.
