- The first shipment of donated cans and mixes from Pillsbury Co. arrived at the Iron Range yesterday. 32,000 pounds of food will be distributed at 26 food shelf sites from Northam to Grand Marais, International Falls to Floodwood.
- The Duluth School Board yesterday voted to revive the distributed education program at Central High School and Denfeld High School next fall. At these schools, the vocational programs for the 1982-83 school year were canceled by the principals due to staff shortages.

- According to a Northwestern Bell Telephone Company study, Duluth’s population is projected to reach 117,000 by January 1, 1928. The company expects to add 5,400 of his phones to his current 23,000 in Duluth in the meantime, requiring a $1 million investment.
- More than 500 Darcians attended the first large outdoor Americanization meeting in Leicester Park last night, sponsored by the David Wisted American Legion Post and the YMCA Americanization Department. The program began with a speech called “Our Flag” by Congressman OJ Larson.
