Peebles: Atlantic rower attends New York fashion show

The Peebles women appeared at a New York fashion show in honor of the record-breaking row that crossed the Atlantic.

30-year-old Taylor Wynyard was part of the fastest mixed trio to cross the ocean earlier this year, rowing 3,000 miles in 40 days and 37 minutes.

And to celebrate this accomplishment and Scottish roots, the former Peebles High School student carried oars down the runway at the 2022 “Dressed to Kilt” fashion show in July.

The event was held at the Mill Neck Manor Estate on Long Island.

Of that experience, Mr. Wynyard said:

“Walking the runway was completely new to me. I was definitely out of my comfort zone, but everyone involved with the show was so lovely and it was so much fun.

“It was a very special night and made me feel very proud to be Scottish.”

Founded by Scottish actor Sir Sean Connery and Dr. Peebrian Jeffrey Scott Carroll, Dressed to Kilt is an annual charity fashion show that raises money for the Navy Seal Foundation.

It is now the world’s largest and most prestigious Scottish fashion event and one of the most watched fashion shows in the United States.

Wynyard wore a full-length Marlboro tartan trench coat and gorgeous tailored Holland Cooper shorts.

With Tom Rose and James Woolley, Ms. Wynyard formed Atlantic Nomads in December to take on what has been described as the world’s toughest boat race at sea.

They left the Canary Islands on December 12th and arrived in Antigua on January 21st. The Atlantic Nomads helped raise much-needed funds for their charity of choice, Alabare’s Homes for Veterans.
