Philadelphia (CBS) — Hot, dry summer so far, and it’s safe to say that temperatures are set to rise again this week. Temperatures will hit the 90s by Friday, and the first week of August will be his fourth heat wave in the Philadelphia area.
Each day promises to be hotter than the next as a high pressure system develops and intensifies in the region.

Temperatures will finally peak on Thursday, leading to record heat waves across much of the region.
Philadelphia’s forecast high for Thursday is 98 degrees, the current record set in 1995.

Whether you try or break the record, the heat index ranges from 100 to 104 degrees, making it dangerously hot.
A heat advisory could go into effect later in the week.
