Knoebel, who will undergo stem cell therapy to avoid surgery, was the closer for the Phillies early in the season. As for Dominguez, 27, he was the Phillies’ most effective relief pitcher in 2022, working as a primary closer for manager Rob Thomson. In his 44 innings so far, Dominguez has posted a 1.64 ERA (251 ERA+), allowed no earned runs, had 54 strikeouts and he had 13 unintentional walks.Our own Mike Axia recently quoted Dominguez as One of the keys to the team’s success since Thomson was replaced by Joe Girardi in early June.A pitcher’s triceps injury could occasionally cascade into something more concerning, but Dominguez’s injury is unlikely at this point as the club hopes to keep his stay at IL to a minimum. It doesn’t seem like a big concern.

The hit to the bullpen came at an inappropriate time for the Phillies.
