After 24 hours of violence in the city of Poughkeepsie, anti-violence advocates step in to help the community.
The city faced a series of gun violence on Tuesday that resulted in the fourth gun murder of the year.
A man was found dead on Mansion Street around 1 a.m. Tuesday, police said. A second shooting occurred in North hours later.
One person was injured on White Street. Authorities said his third shooting in the city took place late Tuesday night when the shooting occurred.
A softball game at College Hill Park. News 12 said no one was attacked.
Poughkeepsie’s gun violence prevention program, SNUG, increased its hours after Tuesday’s series of violence.
SNUG Senior Outreach Worker Shahiem Smith Organizations have already been mobilized to support families and coordinate outreach programs.
“Peace walks, shooting responses, things that address the immediate community,” Smith said.
SNUG will host a Peace Walk on Friday, August 12th at 3pm. The walk begins on North White Street and ends on Mansion Street, where the latest murder took place.
